Material Design

In 2014, Google introduced its new design language Material Design . I was fascinated by its design concept:

“[…] unlike real paper, our digital material can expand and reform intelligently. Material has physical surfaces and edges. Seams and shadows provide meaning about what you can touch. […]” Matías Duarte

Material Design is based on paper and ink, transferred into the graphical user interfaces of Google’s web and Android applications.

I thought, why not transfering this concept into photography? With this idea in mind, I constructed some paperworks using paper with different surfaces, colors and material, combining them with different shapes in different alignments.

Creating my own Material Design.

At the end, taking a photograph of that paperworks transferred the physical matter into visual shapes with all its flatness, shadows, shapes, roughness and smoothness. Below you will find my results.
