Attending at a conference is always a fun task. Especially in my field, in space science. It takes you to places from which you haven't heard before or you never believed to visit them once in your life. You meet unknown people or well-known people from previous conferences. And all together, your perceived misplacement and the spontaneous but short-term socialization to make that time for all as pleasant as possible, creates a special atmosphere of an adventure - or better: an exploration.
