In early September we took a bike ride to the radio telescope Astropeiler Stockart (located in the Eifel in near of Bad Münstereifel). You can call it the smaller, older sister of the radio observatory Effelsberg about which I already published a short series last year. Like almost every monument, the Astropeiler Stockart was at some point in history the best, the first or the largest of anything. Its best days are long gone, it is now scientifically used only by amateur astronomers. But in the late 1950's, the time of its construction, it was Germany's first telescope, whose antenna could be rotated continuously around 360° around its spin axis.
You can find a series of photos in the Effelsberg gallery.
